What’s the difference between Need and Desire?

What’s the difference between Need and Desire?

Have you ever been in a relationship where they needed you? I mean, REALLY needed you?

Now, here is another question: Have you ever been in a relationship, they desired you? I mean, they REALLY desired you?

What’s the difference? Well, if you’re like me, you like to be desired, but you don’t like to be needed…is that true for you? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t, but it’s definitely true for me. Being needed has a suffocating quality; being desired has more of a magnetic essence to it. Being desired, to me, feels like a warmth coming into my experience, versus being needed seems to have a, sort of, twinge to it.

Well, consider this…if you need some THING, in a way you would need someone in a relationship, is the same need that pushes away those things you would like to have in your life. For example, if you would like to have more money in your life, but you need it, you will repel it. If you need more clients and customers, you will repel them away. If you need a relationship, it will find a way not to stay in your experience.

Does that make sense? Need is a lack energy, and it has to attract like energy. Need says, “There’s not enough”, and anytime you emanate that kind of energy into the field, it will bring back the experiences, people and events to match that energy output. What you put out, you get back and to need anything, whether it be a relationship, money or friendships, you will repel that very thing you ‘need’ because it tells the Universe that you don’t have it, and the Universe responds to your vibrational energy patterns.

What about Desire?
Desire is a more magnetic state of being. Desire says, “I hunger for you, but I don’t need you.” To desire means to summon without attachment – to request. desire is the root of all success. If you’ve read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, you know the chapter on Desire. Desire is the seed that summons all acts of greatness. Without desire, there is no energy behind us to create what we desire.

Desire is a delicious thing, because there is no lack energy in desire. Desire is a state of being that says, “I’m fulfilled just as I am, and I hunger for more.” Desire is a magical state of being that pulls what you want toward you, in a magnetic dance of attraction power.

For a moment, think of something you desire – something you want to manifest and create in your life. Notice, is there any need in that energy? That need will prevent you from having that desire.

To be desired is to be wanted in a way that isn’t clingy – and as you think about that, doesn’t it feel so much more yummy to be desired than needed?!  I think so –  and when you have a healthy desire for the things that you want, without the attachement of needing it, you allow that thing, that person, whatever it is, to flow into your experience at the perfect time. Yes, perfect time.

Desire = Summon
Need = Repel

You choose.

“You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, if you were supposed to be anywhere else, you’d be there. Embrace the now, and desire more.”
